post post post [Oct. 6th, 2009|01:59 pm]
So, aside from my car eating my pay check, things have been going well...

Circus classes with my sister are fun. I also finally took Shana out driving, hopefully we will do that more often so she can get her license.
Stand up bass lessons are good, but I still have a long way to go to play all the pieces in Symphonic Band.
My classes are going pretty well. Most of my students are not little shits...but there are a few.

Current Anime: Pandora Hearts. It's making me want to dress as Black Rabbit, but I still really want to be a scary silent hill monster, K-On and Ceil again...it's tough decisions for Otakon next year...lols.

The kitties are always playing now. They chase each other around the house nonstop. It's pretty cute. Nym just gets annoyed with the kitten, because he never knows when to stop playing.

And I may go see Zombie Land today with my Dad, Kevin and Myk. I heard from Shana that it is almost Shawn of the Dead good, but I'll try not to get my hopes up. BTW, Fido is a very good silly zombie movie.

Band Stuff:
My band has been quickly making its way up the radio 104 battle. You can vote here--- http://www.radio1041.fm/band_polls.php
We came in later than the top bands, so we're doing pretty darn well.
We're going to be doing some recording this weekend and some other crazy stuff. We've got new originals and covers. And if we play Halloween, we're all dressing as zombies and playing thriller if anyone knows the dance....
We have a lot of awesome shows coming up that people should come check out--- For some reason they are really light, if you highlight them you can read them...

Does anyone use lj anymore? [Sep. 10th, 2009|02:08 pm]
It's funny that I feel as though I have been very busy lately not accomplishing much of anything.
Mostly there's been cats cats and more cats.
We got a kitten in hopes to make Nym a little less crazy, but it's been two weeks and she's still afraid of the little guy. He just hides all the time, so Myk is not terribly fond of him either. He used to be feral, but he is quite nice when you get him to come out and play.
Also, a stray kept running into my appartment, so I finally brought it to my dad's house. My dad's gigantic cat was actually not that upset about the stray being there, so we think she's a girl. All of the cats I'm talking about are black, besides Nym who is black and white. But, I've been calling the stray, Princess Marmalade, because of something Shana said once.

Anyway, my classes that I am teaching are going pretty well. I like my first class more, even though I have no technology in that room and it is the bigger class. A lot of them actually laugh at my jokes and try to talk to me about video games and stuff. It is cool.

I'm starting double bass lessons today. Yes, I've played bass guitar for 11 years, but it is totally different. I love my stand up bass. It is so much fun to play, but I have to stifle the urge to play it very late at night, because I already woke up myk with it at  one in the morning.

Monday is the first day of circus classes, and I am excited about that. I don't know when I will eat that day, because I have to run straight from teaching to pick up Shana and go to North Hampton, but it'll still be fun.

I'm also working on the last book of my trilogy. I really need to work on getting these published, but it's the worst thing ever, so I've been finding excuse after excuse not to work on that. Like 'why don't i finish all three before i try to do that' and things like that. So far, everyone who has read the second book said they couldn't put it down, so I guess that is a good sign. I need to go back to the first one and fix it up some more, because the first was really my experiment on writing a book. Now I know how to deal with pacing better and some other stuff.

I've also got symphonic band today. Right now I'm playing clarinet in it, but i hope to switch to double bass if my bass teacher , David Mix, fixes the one in the band room.

And my band is playing September 17th at Zen with two other bands that I really like and am friends with the bassists of.

Oh yeah,
Current Anime: wagaya no oinari sama
It is a super awesome anime about a fox spirit. I really like the storyline, and it is like the manga I wrote. I hope Shana finds the time to watch it, because I think she would really like the Fox spirit. They even have Shana's fox mask in the end credits. When I finish this one, I want to start another anime by the same writer.

Even though it seems like I'm doing a lot of stuff, it is less than I am used to during the semester, so I need to find more things to get involved in, hopefully something that pays. :)

blarg! [Jul. 29th, 2009|05:13 am]
So, I was supposed to graduate this august with my MA in writing, but because I filled out the paperwork too soon, yes too soon, they thought I wanted May. Well, I had clearly typed August on my paperwork, but apparently that doesn't matter. Then they sent me a letter about it last week, which is too late for me to apply to graduate in the fall. That's right, I have to wait 'til fucking Spring, because my thesis is being read by people even though I finished it a month ago. Hell, I could write five thesies while I'm waiting for the spring. Colleges are bullshit, degrees are bullshit and I'm sick of jumping through unnecessary hoops to get every little thing done. I have to get five signatures on my thesis alone, not counting the same people that had to sign off on my thesis proposal. All of this stuff is so pointless and stupid. I did the work, give me the stupid piece of paper that says I have a degree damn it.

W00t [Jul. 21st, 2009|01:35 pm]
Otakon was super fun. It was a lot of running around and doing stuff and no sleep. My highlights would be
-Getting to see a lot of the dubbers/directors of different animes (including the voice of the Major and director of cowboy bebop, the voice of Alucard, and Krillin).
-The raves on Friday and Saturday.
-The concert by Becca, which was one of the main events I wanted to see.
-Our roommate winning the Game Show for the 4th year in a row. Go Doug!
-Seeing all the awesome costumes, my favorite was Miaka and Yui in their Suzaku and Seiyu no miko costumes.
-All the rediculous games going on the entire time.
-Completing the quest the pirate gave us and getting candy. We got Sepheroth to kill Aeris.
-Getting a Grunty finally and people going balls crazy whenever they saw it. (seriously people, i just bought it at the dealers room)
-Having video game cosplayers stand in front of their own games while people were playing them.
I just can't think of everything. There was too much.
But, here's 457 pictures:
http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb213/Talbeans/Otakon2008/2009Otakon/

I know what I want to dress as next year...and I think a lot of people are going to be surprised/disgusted. It's going to take a lot of work....

The bad part of Otakon was the traffic coming home, it took us 9 or 10 hours instead of the 5 1/2. It was redonculous.

In other news my stand up bass is the awesome. I'm loving playing it. I'm waiting for my second reader to get my thesis back to me. Waiting sucks. My band is playing in NY on Thurs and on Saturday. I'm not super stoked about the Thursday show. We were at this place before and the people were not super freindly. I don't know why we're going back.
Current Animes: Finished Index recently. Now I'm watching Black Cat.
Index is very good. Black Cat is ok.

Nominate my band :) [Jul. 6th, 2009|06:23 pm]
Hey guys, if you have a few minutes, this is really easy:

The Hartford Advocate Band Slam is underway- you nominate your favorite band in Connecticut and you can also nominate individual band members for being the best at what they do. It's really easy!

Just check out the link below and enter your name and e-mail to "register" and you're all set! Here are the details you'll need to nominate my band and (of course) all of us individually!

Band: She Eats Planets
Female vocalist: Sara Hart
Guitarist: Laura Robida and Jay Dressler
Drummer: Matt Mello
Bassist: Talya Goodman

You can, if you so choose, give them the contact info they ask for. The contact person is Michelle Gumbert and the contact e-mail is management@sheeatsplanets.com That info isn't NECESSARY but it sure helps.

Just doing this once and spreading the word would be a HUGE help! Thanks a ton guys!

Rant [Jun. 26th, 2009|12:03 am]
I also forgot to mention that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is the worst freakin thing ever. It made me sooo mad. The writer obviously has no idea what makes Pride and Prejudice such a good novel...the WRITING.
It is not simply Austen's writing with zombies added in. The guy re-writes everything and throws zombies in. Every once in a while he'll throw in a line form the book, but it doesn't work because his writing is so god awful that they don't fit together. He completely undermines everything the original book was trying to acheive. It is a crappy half-assed version of the book for complete retards who don't know how to read or enjoy reading.
That's all.

Few Things [Jun. 25th, 2009|11:53 pm]
Well, I'm sick with a flu or something, but Magestry is this weekend and hopefully it won't make me sicker.

If anyone has an extra black cane that they don't want, I need one for a costume. It is the only piece I have left that I need for Otakon. W00t

Also, people can download one of my band's songs for free here:http://www.myspace.com/windows?homepage=sheeatsplanets

No More Tower [Apr. 11th, 2009|11:32 am]
So, we're basically finished moving. It was soo much work, and we still have a few things to straighten out. We just have some kitchen stuff and some odds and ends to move.
Toner and TJ were awesome and helped us a bunch. We owe them a lot.
Nym wouldn't get in her carrying case last night. She was putting up such a fight that I finally ended up just carrying her to the car. She was not that bad in the car. She hid behind me until we got here. She's currently afraid to go downstairs, so we had to put her litter box in the study, which kinda sucks.
We missed bmn, and mark, myk and I are freakin  exhausted, but the place looks nice.
So, we no longer live in the Tower, and Myk had a nickname for this place, but Mark and I are not sold on it. So, anyone who wants to should come visit. :-)
P.S. I still don't know our address....

So, I finished watching two animes I've been watching for a while. Both are the animes I'm dressing as characters from for Otakon.
Soul Eater---ended on episode 51. It's an ok ending, but kinda cheesy. Apparently a chaos god can be defeated by confusing him and punching him in the face...go figure.
Kuroshitsuji (black butler)---basically delivered exactly what it set forth to, making it incredibly depressing/anticlimactic. The whole series is about Ceil, who has a demon butler. Ceil's parents were killed in this weird plot by a fallen angel. Ceil, while dieing, makes a deal with a demon to give his soul to the demon if the demon kills all the people/angels involved in the plot to kill his parents. Well, the demon does it...Ceil dies...demon eats his soul. Ceil's last words "make it painful, like my life." Um....yeah.

Super stoked about Otakon still. I'm dressing as Chrona and Ceil. Perhaps I'll post pictures when my costumes are done. If anyone desperately wants to come with, they should let me know asap.

NYC tomorrow! Woo!
